NSClient++ Help (#1) - Custom Average Counters...help? (#340) - Message List
I am using NSCLIENT with nagios and cacti and it works great. Thanks for all of the hard work to the developers here. There are a number of average counters we have been trying to figure out how to monitor. Some of them are custom, some of them are windows built in. I found this "assigned enhancement" ( http://trac.nakednuns.org/nscp/ticket/20) which seems to indicate this is not possible at this time, but may be coming? I was hopeful that the AVERAGES switch for check_nt would provide this function but this does not seem to be the case. Is the current nsclient++ able to monitor average counters other than CPU? If not, is there a common work around?
Thanks very much for any help, I'm really banging my head against this wall.

it cannot (as such (you can always extend things your self though)) and the reason it has not been added is that noone has asked for it... I thought it would have been a "cool idea" waaaay back but since noone seemed interested I have never gotten around to it.
I hesitate to do so for the up-coming version as it might add problems and I do not want to add to many new problems to the "stable branch" I will however see if I can make it happen for the next version "major"...
It would help if you could give me some examples on how you would like to use it so I have something to work with...

I would like average counters with the CheckCounter modules. E.g. current idle time for a disk isnt really good information, average for the last 5 min would be usefull info.
