NSClient++ Help (#1) - Windows server 2003 and passive checks. (#298) - Message List

Windows server 2003 and passive checks.

Hello, I wanted to ask few questions (thanks in advance):

1) Can I use NSclient++ for passive checks on windows server 2003? I guess the answer it yes! Off course

2) Where can I find documentation regarding the configuration of the passive checks (ini file?) this is my most important question.

3) What are the alternatives? I've googled and I could only find the following? www.groundworkopensource.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1105

4) I'm not familiar with NSCA – do I have to use it? Is it related and installed on a windows server? From the NSClient documentation "If you don't know what NSCA is you probably don't want to do this."

trac.nakednuns.org/nscp/wiki/doc/usage/nagios

5) Do I need to install other programs besides NSClient++ for monitoring passive checks on a windows server 2003 machine? plugins or addons?? Pls give links to those if the answer is yes.

6) Just a thought… I recommend you to record the basic actions/steps and configuration and the all the operations that ppl are looking using a tool like wink

Debugmode.com/wink/

I guess it will save you time and efforts with supporting all the NSClient++ users…:-)

Btw, I use NSClient++ for active checks for my Windows server 2003 and it works great! Keep the good job with this!
