NSClient++ Help (#1) - checkcounter question (#653) - Message List
Hi,
I'm using CheckCounter (0.3.8) to query the LogicalDisk?(<LETTER>)\Disk Reads/sec (and Writes/sec).
I'm using this on a couple of SQL Servers.
the servers are configured so that database log files are on one logical drive (a raid array "inside" the server) and database data files are on another (a raid array "outside" the server on a DAS array).
the counters show lots of writes on the log drive, but 0 reads. the counters show logs of reads on the data drive, but 0 writes.
does that seem odd? the files are split for a reason, but I would anticipate at least some reads on the log drive and vice versa.
any thoughts?
thanks,
J

what do you call "0 writes" (0 reads)? Really 0 or just near 0?
I have a VERY busy SQL Server here (also with split data and log drive). And I only collect the \LogicalDisk?(_Total)\Avg. Disk sec/Read (/Write) counters (i.e. all disks together). And most of the time the counters are very near to 0 (<0.01). So I assume your counters are correct if they are also in this range.
But if you're interested, I could also collect the counters of the distinct disks for a while and give feedback here.
Regards, Chris
